I'll be your host. My name is Richard Charles McNamara. Please, call me Rick. And, first things first, even I would like to know... What the heck am I doing, trying to have a website, and a record company? It just seems so preposterous. But, I have written a lot of songs, and there was simply nothing else to do but to try and record them, and to try and produce at least one quality record. At long last, I feel I have done it. The record is called "Unlike Anything."

I have found that it can be sort of hard (and, fortunately, usually not necessary) to judge my own work. But I will say that I have found myself thinking about the very idea of creating art and music, and have found myself feeling that if the art could not offer some potentially useful insight into our human conditions, then it might not be worth the effort. For me, art should be multi-purpose.

In order for art to be effective in reaching people, of course, it must be interesting. Art should entertain. But, the ability of art to provoke thought seems to lend it perfectly to the processes of improving understanding, of stretching, strengthening, and facilitating communication between people. Effective art should, I think, help to highlight our common bonds.
